Sample Repair: Sarouk Fringe

Fringe repair work is the most common type of repair. Fringes take a lot of abuse, and often are one of the first parts of a rug to show wear. Fortunately, fringe repair is very effective, and reasonably priced.

Before

This Sarouk had extensive damage to its fringes. You can see in these pictures that the fringe was starting to unravel. Beyond the fact that it doesn't look very nice, the damage to the fringe would continue at a rapid pace, further damaging the look and value of this fine rug.

After

We removed a small amount of remaining wool to even out the rug, and then strengthened the weft by sewing into it. Finally, the fringe is evenly cut to present a clean look. This rug will now last many years without further damage.
